This week is #afternoonteaweek so we thought we would celebrate by sharing some of the best places in the UK for afternoon tea. The Principal - London
London has many beautiful places to treat yourself to an Afternoon Tea and the Principal London is definitely a must visit. The Grade II building has been restored to its former glory featuring some new contemporary touches. It's double-height glass ceiling that floods the room with a radiant natural light, makes it a beautiful space that provides relaxing surroundings to while away the hours and enjoy a range of delightful sweet and savoury treats.
Their menu is inspired by the four quadrants in Humphry Repton's designs for Russell Square gardens, utilising flavours and ingredients from the four corners of the world in this exciting menu where guests can choose from a choice of four different scones!
Binswood Hall- Leamington Spa
Binswood Hall is a Grade II-listed former Victorian school building situated in the heart Royal Leamington Spa. With luxurious décor, a unique relaxed atmosphere and a charming contemporary Afternoon Tea menu, Binswood Hall offers the ideal ambience for a memorable dining experience. Traditional Afternoon Tea comprises of a selection of delicate finger sandwiches, delectable fruit scones served with strawberry preserve and clotted cream, a variety of cream cakes, tea loaf and a pot of finest Twinning tea.
Eynsham Hall - Oxfordshire
Eynsham Hall is set in picturesque Oxfordshire, this country house hotel provides suitably grand surroundings to indulge in a delicious range of treats. Afternoon Tea is served in the stylish brasserie. Malmaison - Newcastle
Afternoon Tea at Malmaison - Newcastle is served in the Chez Mal Brasserie where guests can relax and unwind in sophisticated surroundings within this building that was formerly a co - operative society warehouse.
Their inventive menu has put a twist on the quintessential Afternoon Tea menu featuring savoury items such as chipotle chicken & avocado wrap that can be enjoyed before scrumptious sweet treats such as a salted chocolate brownie. And how cute are those mini milkshakes!
Hotel du Vin & Bistro - Yorkshire
Hotel Du Vin is nestled within the ancient city of York, and sits inside a beautiful grade II-listed mansion. Their Modern take on the traditional Afternoon Tea is a selection of savouries including a Severn and Wye smoked salmon and cream cheese bagel, egg and cress mayonnaise brioche sub, ham with Gruyere croissant, heritage tomato and tapenade galette, and a goat's cheese and spinach quiche.
The next course is a selection of warm scones served with a mixture of Bonne Maman jams, clotted cream and Lescure butter. To finish, a few sweet mini treats of a lemon meringue pie, raspberry and dark chocolate teacakes and rhubarb and custard doughnuts. This is all topped off with homemade candy floss.
