The range on offer includes Estate reared beef, fruit and veg from their farm, award-winning cheeses and fine wines and spirits. The Courtyard Restaurant at Elveden Estate has proudly held an AA Rosette since 2007. Breakfast and lunch are served daily and customers can also purchase wine from the shop to enjoy with their meal with no corkage charge.
Before 2006 The courtyard on the Elvden Estate, owned by Lord and Lady Iveagh, was a collection of disused farm buildings that had fallen into disrepair due to lack of use. The estate owners contacted Appetite Me to see what diversification options were available to modernise and breath new life into this part of the estate.
Appetite Me carried out a detailed feasibility study and concluded the courtyard would be ideal for a rural retail and hospitality venue. The courtyard setting, which is perfect for Alfresco summer dining, includes a fine food farm shop and restaurant as well as a book shop, children’s gifts and home and garden shops which are all open to the public daily. Appetite Me project-managed the complete design and implementation of the entire courtyard, as well as creating and developing the Elveden brand and introducing own-recipe label products. We produced the website and social media sites, promoting the business and oversaw the employment of all staff, from management to floor level.
The farm shop boasts a wide selection of local meats, including Elvedens own venison, local cheeses and other dairy products. Appetite Me is highly supportive of other local brands and stocked a plethora of products from Bhaji Mans curries and Butterworths tea to Calvors lager and English Whisky.
These products sit alongside Elvedens own range of home-produced chutneys, sauces, marmalades and jams that was designed by Appetite Me created a range of over 25 jarred products, including using the Estates own-grown produce and otherwise sourced locally, wherever possible. Elveden products include Elvedenilli, a new take on Piccalilli, which uses carrots, onions and parsnips in a sweet, finely-cut illi and Elveden Pickle, which has a very high fruit content of strawberries, raspberries, blackberries and rhubarb, alongside the traditional vegetables, making the ideal accompaniment to strong cheeses.
Appetite Me project-managed the creation of our Elveden Courtyard shopping, food hall and restaurant complex in 2006 and more recently assisted in 2013 with our takeover of Tastes of Anglia trading. They are highly driven professionals and was instrumental in the development of these areas of our business.
